Could he? Maybe, but it's probably best to leave him in the OHL.

If we have a camp and he does well start him here, if the lockout cancels camp Austin is probably a good start.

I know one of the biggest concerns when bringing a kid in is whether or not they can handle a full NHL season. I wonder if there is a shortened season if we see more players making it simply because it won't be such a long year.

If they start the season in Jrs...they can only be called up on an emergency basis.

Well is there really any sort of deal in place right now?

No, the NHL-CHL agreement expired and there is no deal in place right now. But what I have heard is that, if ANY significant changes are made to the current arrangement, it will be to allow players with 3 years of CHL experience (regardless of age) to be assigned to the AHL if the NHL team thinks it would be better for their development.

Steve Yzerman is one of the most vocal proponents of that particular change, and I would be in favor of it.

As for Faksa, it'll be OHL or Stars.

I'm sure there would be some sort of clause for players to go to the NHL after starting the year in Junior this year. You really think if the Oil, Jackets, Habs, Isles and Leafs told the CHL that they can keep the top 5 picks in this year's past draft, but if the season resumes they want the chance to be able to play them in the NHL that the CHL would say no?

CHL has to give a little wiggle room.

I agree with you. I'd like to see that change, too. CHL really has no leverage here.

I don't know that we see a major change going forward, I just thought for a lockout year they'd maybe see the good in getting 40 games instead of no games out of the top 5 in the past draft.

Give him his 9 games and go from there. I'd rather slot eakin in the 2c spot while Roy is out. I don't want to rush him and ruin his dev. Benn-eakin-fiddler-One of the kids wouldn't kill me for a few games until Roy is good. I think either way we will be fine.
